Your Mother Tongue was a First Foreign Language in Your Life

 

Approximately, more than 2500 years ago,

Confucius, 

who is the Chinese philosopher 

well-known for his doctrine: 

morality and ethics, 

once said: 

“Study the past if you would define the future”_­

I assume that every reader here can speak, listen, and write one language. 

That should be your mother tongue and then

 “Congratulations”

which means that you can speak, listen, 

and write with a foreign language (a foreign language for me) 

whether you are aware of it or not. 

In general sense, 

you may think that 

you do not recognize your mother tongue as a foreign language. 

However, you have already practiced a foreign language (your mother tongue) 

that you had not recognized. 

I discovered that 

this undeniable truth is 

a powerful concept in a language-learning. 

You already know 

how to manage to learn a particular language!
